Saeid Shirzad Was Tried In Tehran

HRANA News Agency – The court session of Saeid Shirzad was held in branch number 15 of the revolutionary court of Tehran in the presence of his lawyer.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the court session of civil rights activist, Saeid Shirzad was held in branch number 15 of the revolutionary court with chief judge Salavati and in the presence of his lawyer, Amirsalar Davoodi.

The allegations against this civil rights and children’s rights activist were announced as collusion by visiting the families of political prisoner’s families and disturbing public order by gathering in front of municipality to protest against the death of a street vendor in subway.

Need to be mentioned the judge and head of branch number 15 of the revolutionary court denied the bail that was proposed by the lawyer after keeping him under detention since 15 months ago.

News are suggesting that the defendant and his lawyer are informed that according to article 134 of Islamic penal code, he will be sentenced to 1.5 times of the maximum sentence that the verdict imply, since defendant has arrest on his record.

Saeid Shirzad was summoned to the court without prior notice. Amirsalar Davoodi, the lawyer of this imprisoned civil rights activist confirmed this news and stated that “despite being against these types of trial, he will attend”.

This civil rights activist who is in his 15th months of imprisonment, had previously left the court session that was held in April, as a protest to not receiving a prior notice, absence of his lawyer and prevention from studying the case by his lawyer.

This activist had leaf court session two times, as the protest to previously mentioned issues and also usage of handcuffs and shackles during the transfer.

Saeid Shirzad was arrested in his workplace, Tabriz refinery on June 2, 2014, and was first transferred to Evin prison, and after that he was exiled to Rajaei Shahr prison without any trial.

This children’s rights activist, a part of whose charges is helping children of political prisoners with their studies, was arrested for the first time on August 21, 2012, when he went to Ahar for helping people after the earthquake of East Azerbaijan. He was released on the bail after 19 days.
