Officials Disagree with Narges Mohammadi’s Demand

HRANA News Agency – On July 1, the Deputy Prosecutor of Tehran told in the meeting with Narges Mohammadi, who has gone on hunger strike to protest to denial of telephone contact with her children that the security officials disagree with the phone call on. The imprisoned human rights activist need to take medicine to control diseases and continue the hunger strike will be unpleasant consequences.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Deputy Prosecutor of Tehran told in the meeting with Narges Mohammadi that the security official disagree with her having phone calls.

Narges Mohammadi’s husband, Taghi Rahmani, by announcing the news told: “Deputy Prosecutor of Tehran told in the meeting with Narges Mohammadi that the security officials disagree with the phone calls and he had no objection with her demands.”

He also stated: “Judicial officials promised to follow-up and called Narges to end her strike, but Narges has not agreed and wanted them to fulfill her demands.”

Mr. Rahmani told at the end: “Narges stipulates that she has the right to have contact with her children at least every week, like all prisoners. The continuation of the hunger strike will have unpleasant consequences due to use of drugs to control her disease.”

Narges Mohammadi, deputy director of Human Rights Defenders, who is now in prison, went on hunger strike on June 27, 2016.

The human rights activist who recently was honored as “champion of freedom of information”, by the Reporters Without Borders, was sentenced to 16 years in prison at the court presided by Judge Salvati.

It is said that her main charge was partnership in LEGAM campaign (campaign to stop the executions step-by-step).

The activist suffered from pulmonary embolism, and crippling muscle disease and according to the doctors the complications of the disease exacerbated by stressful environments in the prison.

She has suffered from a nervous shock in prison while she was chained to the bed when she was transferred to the hospital.

Amnesty International, in a statement which was published recently demanded the immediate and unconditional freedom of Narges Mohammadi.
