A News Case Opened against Mohammad Amin Agooshi and Iraj Mohammadi

HRANA News Agency – After being sent to the court in Tabriz, a new case has been opened for “Iraj Mohammadi” and “Mohammad Amin Agooshi”, two security prisoners jailed in Tabriz prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Iraj Mohammadi and Mohammad Amin Agooshi, two security prisoners in Tabriz prison were charged with disturbing the prison order, in the court of this city, on Monday, 18th April.
An informed source in this regard, by announcing this news, told HRANA’s reporter; “These two prisoners were accused of disturbing the prison order by the prison authorities, because they protested agianst their condition in prison, and a case has been opened against them in Branch 7 of Tabriz Court.”
This source also added; “These two prisoners were sent to the court and were charged with disturbing the prison order through insulting the prison authorities, by the prosecutor, on Monday 18th April. They denied the charges”.
In addition, a close relative of Mr. Mohammadi told HRANA: “He suffers from mental problems and they do not give his medications to him. However, his situation in Tabriz prison is very unfavorable, and after all these years of imprisonment, he has not even a bed and blanket and sleeps on the mosaic. When he protests, they form a new case for him. It’s really not fair.”
Iraj Mohammadi was arrested along with Mohammad Amin Agooshi and Ahmad Pooladkhani, on charge of espionage, in May 2009. Finally they were sentenced to ten years imprisonment in exile in April 2012.
HRANA had earlier reported that Mr Mohammadi was examined in Zahedan and his need to receive medical treatment was approved by the Medical Commission. But the process is not respected in Tabriz prison and prison authorities do not give him an appropriate answer. His situation is inappropriate, right now.
Due to the harsh conditions of the prison and enduring eight months imprisonment in solitary confinement in the prison of Revolutionary Guards in Urmia which was along with torture, and in particular, because of blows to his head, he has got mental and psychological disorders and needs medical treatments and medications in Tabriz prison, right now.
Mohammad Amin Agooshi was arrested on charge of espionage and cooperation for the benefit of the KRG, on 22nd September 2007. He was held 7 months and 20 days in solitary confinement in Camp Ramadan of Ministry of Intelligence, in the city of Urmia, for interrogation and after 8 months of his detention, he was released on a bail of 150 million tomans which had been ordered by Branch 2 of the Military Court in Urmia, by Mr. Sabbaghian, the prosecutor.
In May 2007, he attended Branch 2 of the Military Court in the city of Urmia, chaired by Mr. Hafiz Ghaffari and the case judge, Mr. Samimi, and was charged and convicted on charges of waging war and was transferred to Urmia Central Prison. After spending four months in Urmia Central Prison and after 5 hearings, chaired by Hafez Ghafari, the court issued and announced a death sentence by firing squad.
By his objection against the verdict, the case was referred to the Supreme Court, Branch 31 headed by Mohammad Salimi for hearing, and the sentence of death by firing squad, on the basis of Article 109 of constitution, was approved.
In 2010, the case for proceeding restitution, was opened again, and was sent to the Supreme Court Branch 31 and the sentence of death by firing squad was changed to 10 years imprisonment in exile.
He was exiled in August of 2012 to Zahedan Central Prison and after one year, the military prosecutor agreed to send him on furlough.
Iraj Mohammadi and Mohammad Amin Agooshi were transferred from Zahedan prison to Tabriz prison, in April 2016 and are held, respectively in ward 11, thieves’ ward and ward 12, ward of militants, in Tabriz prison.
