Gathering of Erfane Halghe Followers In Tehran

HRANA News Agency – Hundreds of citizens and followers of Erfane Halghe (Interuniversalism Mysticism) gathered in front of Evin Prison and Bar Association and demanded the freedom for Mohammad Ali Taheri, the founder of Erfane Halghe.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), those attended yesterday’s gathering were protesting in reaction to the reports published about Mohammad Ali Taheri’s hunger strike and his critical health condition.

One of the protesters told HRANA’s reporter: “Hundreds of people attended the protest holding Mohammad Ali Taheri’s pictures and hand written signs. The slogans used at this protest were “the teacher of compassionate should be released”, “Teheri’s death is corruption”, unequal laws should be dismissed”, “freedom of thinking is our obvious right.”

The well informed source added: this gathering formed while many plain cloth officers and security forces were scattered on the locations and continuously pictured and filmed the protestors.  This protest started at 10:00 am and lasted for 45 minutes. After that the crowd of protestors moved to Argentine square and toward the Bar Association and joined Nasrin Sotoudeh’s refuge. This part of protest carried out with no slogan and was silent but the crowd hold the pictures and hand writings in the air. This gathering dispersed after police interfered.

It is important to mention that according to the media’s close to security forces, Mr Taheri has recently been sentenced to 6 year imprisonment. Back in 2011, Islamic Revolutionary Court sentenced Mohammad Ali Taheri to 5 years imprisonment, paying fine and 72 lashes based on the charge of touching female patients and interfering in the Medicine and blasphemy.  Mr Taheri has been arrested several times and the last time was on 4 May 2011.
