Esmail Abdi Banned from Leaving Iran

HRANA News Agency – Esmail Abdi, general secretary of the Teacher’s Union has been banned from leaving Iran.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), on Sunday 21st June, when Mr. Abdi was going to Armenia, his passport was seizured and he was deprived of leaving the country.

Mr. Abdi has announced this news and also regarding the reason of this ban order, he has written that the officer, who informed him of the travel ban order, stated that he is executing the order of “Evin Enforcement Office” and added that Mr. Abdi should attend the Attorney General Justice Deputy office in Tehran, on Wednesday 24th July.

Esmail Abdi who has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment, in May, coinciding with the protests of teachers across the country, was summoned and his prison sentence was subject to resignation, this resignation was not accepted by the Board of Teachers’ Trade Union.
