Critical health condition of Asghar Mahmoudian in Semnan Prison

HRANA News Agency – Asghar Mahmoudian who has been exiled to Semnan Prison is in critical health condition.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Ali Ashghar Mahmoudian, a 63-year old prisoner who suffers from Prostate, Coronary Heart, Haemorrhoids, and Respiratory disease is at Semnan Central Prison and his health condition is at a critical stage.
He is also facing new judicial problems and may charge a fine (cash penalty) or whipping as he missed the deadline for returning to the prison after his sick leave from the Prison.
One of his relative reports to HRNA: “we decided to attend to part of his physical problems when Mr Mahmoudian released from the prison on a four day sick leave. However, his treatment process took a bit longer and caused a delay in his return to the prison. At the moment, judicial officials do not accept such delay despite available supporting medical evidences and are determine to issue new commandment for his delay in returning from sick leave. One of the officials has said that it would be either a cash penalty or whipping.”
This political prisoner has been sentenced to six years imprisonment and exile for “Enmity against God and state”. His verdict is based on an Article under Islamic Penal Code which was amended in 2013. Therefore, according to Iranian and International established Legal Principle laws his sentence should change.
Ali Asghar Mahmoudian was arrested in autumn 2009 and was sentenced to six years imprisonment at the Branch 15 of Islamic Revolutionary Court. He was convicted of supporting “People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran” and until now he has served  four and half years of his sentence.
In April 10th , 2014 he attended to Shahid Moghaddas Public Prosecutor’s Office located in Evin Prison in protest to the excruciating condition of Semnan Prison while he was on his sick leave. In response to his protest, he was instantly transferred to Ward 350 of Evin Prison.
Semnan Prison is an old caravansary where converted to a prison without any suitable facilities. Several reports about high population density, murder, addiction and rape have been filed within this prison. On an occasion, taking drugs by majority of the prisoners put Mahmoudian’s life in danger.
At the moment along with Ali Asghar Mahmoudian, Behrang Sarkhosh and some others of Baha’is are serving their sentence as political-ideological prisoners at Semnan Prison.
