Authorities Do Not Address Hossein Ronaghi Maleki’s Health Condition

HRANA News Agency – Authorities have postponed the date to address the request of Hossein Ronaghi Maleki for a medical furlough. He is imprisoned in Evin prison and suffers from various diseases, and his problem will be addressed after the new year holidays in Iran. Also, despite an order from the prosecutor, prison authorities put extra difficulties to his transfers to the hospital from the prison.
One of the close relatives of Hossein Ronaghi, in this regard told HRANA’s reporter: “The review process for Hossein’s medical leave has been postponed until after the Nowrooz holidays”. He added that “despite an order from the prosecutor on not wearing prison clothes, handcuffs and shackles when he is being taken to a hospital outside the prison, some prison authorities disrupt in this issue”.
This ill prisoner of conscience was taken to an orthopedic specialist clinic, on Wednesday March 9th, due to the vertebrae and the lumbar problems, and after the examination was transferred to the prison.
“Angina, kidney problems, swelling of the face, stomach bleeding, high blood density, eye infections, lung and breathing problems” among other problems are the issues that Roghani’s family has asked for punishment intolerance certificate, on their bases.
Hossein’s father earlier had told HRANA’s reporter: “My son should not be held in prison because of many diseases and health problems and due to lack of medical facilities”.
Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, human rights activist and blogger, was arrested on December 13, 2009.
Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment after 10 months of detention in ward 2-A of Evin prison, on October 5, 2010. The charges against him in the court were announced as; “membership in the network of Iran proxy, insulting the leader and insulting the president”.
The sentence was upheld by Branch 54 of the Appeals Court and after that Hossein Ronaghi was transferred to ward 350 of Evin prison.
The prisoner is now being held in ward 7 of Evin Prison without medical care and in poor conditions.
